Hi-C Sequencing
High-resolution mapping of chromatin interactions to understand genome function and epigenetics
What is Hi-C and What is it Used For?
The three-dimensional organization of the genome plays an important role in gene regulation, cell differentiation, and disease progression. Hi-C is a genome-wide chromatin conformation capture (3C) assay that maps this 3D structure by identifying long-range chromosomal interactions across the entire genome.
As an extension of traditional 3C methods, Hi-C uses high-throughput sequencing to capture unbiased interactions between genomic regions separated by megabases on the same chromosome. Hi-C data reveal higher-order genome features such as chromatin compartments, topologically associating domains (TADS), and chromatin loops, providing valuable insight into how genome structure influences gene expression.
