Leadership Team

In 2014, Dr. Guanghui Hu co-founded Admera Health. Prior to this, Dr. Hu acquired over a decade’s worth of experience in drug discovery and companion diagnostics at Tanox, Inc. (now part of Roche/Genentech), GlaxoSmithKline, and Merck as Director of R&D. Dr. Hu then went on to GENEWIZ, Inc. (now part of Brooks Automation) where he was Vice President of Global Business. Dr. Hu completed his Post Doctoral research at the University of California Los Angeles after earning his Ph.D. from Baylor College of Medicine, he also holds a Master of Science degree from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Tsinghua University.

Dr. Ruben Bonilla-Guerrero obtained his medical degree from the Universidad Veracruzana in Mexico. From there, he moved to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota where he completed his training in Clinical Pharmacology and Clinical Biochemical Genetics, spending 14 years focusing on research and clinical laboratory medicine. Prior to joining Admera Health, Dr. Bonilla-Guerrero spent over nine years at Quest Diagnostics in both Laboratory Director and Medical Directors roles. Dr. Bonilla-Guerrero is board certified in Clinical Biochemical Genetics by the American Board of Clinical Pharmacology and American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG) and in Molecular Biology by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP).

Dr. Min Wei was one of the founding bioinformatic scientists at Admera Health. Dr. Wei now leads the Clinical Operations team and serves as the General Supervisor of Admera’s CLIA-licensed, CAP-accredited molecular diagnostics laboratory. Previously, Dr. Wei led the Translational Genomics Bioinformatics team at GENEWIZ, Inc. Dr. Wei gained over 10 years of experience in clinical diagnostics assay design, genomics and bioinformatics at companies and academic institutions including GE Healthcare, Genaissance Pharmaceuticals and the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Wei earned her Ph.D. and Master of Science degrees from the University of Minnesota and her Bachelor of Science degree from Nankai University.
Prior to joining Admera Health in 2014, Mr. Brady Millican gained over 25 years of experience in the diagnostic laboratory industry where he held a variety of leadership positions. Mr. Millican’s previous positions include Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Director of Business Development, and Regional Sales Director. Mr. Millican served as an officer in the United States Army as a commander of both Blackhawk and Attack Helicopter companies. He is Airborne and Ranger qualified. A co-founder of the Central Florida Autism Institute, Mr. Millican holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington and Lee University.

Mr. Omar Karame received an MBA from the Wharton Business School and a Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College. Prior to joining Admera Health, he was CFO of an energy technology company as well as head of M&A for several different businesses, including a Fortune 500, NYSE listed contractor, a NYSE listed healthcare company and a $1.4 billion industrial holding company. In addition, Mr. Karame spent several years in private equity, venture capital as well as investment banking where he worked on notable healthcare transactions such as the IPO of DaVita (formerly, Total Renal Care Holdings), the merger of National Medical Enterprises and American Medical Holdings in the creation of Tenet Healthcare, and the divestiture and spin-offs of Priority Hospital Groups and Transitional Hospitals Corporation from NYSE listed Community Psychiatric Centers.

Dr. James Dermody also serves as the CLIA Lab Director at the Institute of Genomic Medicine at Rutgers Medical School, the Specialty Lab Director at the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners, an Assistant Professor at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and a member of the New Jersey Medical School Institutional Review Board. Dr. Dermody holds Board Certification in Clinical Molecular Diagnostics from the American Board of Medical Genetics, as well as a Lab Director Certificate of Qualification from the New York State Department of Health. Dr. Dermody completed postdoctoral research at Hunter College after earning a Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.


Mr. Jeff Mitchell earned his MBA from Boston University with concentrations in both Health Sector Management and finance. For his undergraduate degree he attended Colorado State University earning a B.S. in Biochemistry. Afterward, he spent nine years as a cellular and molecular biologist in both academic and industry settings, focusing on endocrinology, immunology, and oncology projects. Subsequently, Mr. Mitchell has worked in cross-functional roles including product management, competitive intelligence, and assessment of strategic opportunities within the life sciences.


Dr. Yun Zhao holds a medical degree and was a practicing physician at Ruijin Hospital Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine for 4 years. Dr. Zhao started his research career at RFUMS/Chicago Medical School, followed by time at Hoffmann-La Roche and Merck working on clinical drug-screening and clinical technology method development respectively. Prior to joining Admera Health, Dr. Zhao was at GENEWIZ, Inc. expanding its Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) Laboratory. Dr. Zhao now runs Admera Health’s Biopharma Services Department providing NGS services to pharmaceutical/biotech companies and academic institutions.

 


Ms. Amanda Raywood leads the Human Resources Department at Admera Health. Ms. Raywood obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations, with minors in Marketing and Speech Communication from York College of Pennsylvania. She has a diverse set of experience within Human Resources, Administration, Customer Relationship Management and Marketing.
