Summary:
Manager, Project Management/Biopharma Services Dept. (South Plainfield, NJ) Coordinate, evaluate and support all Next-generation sequencing (NGS) and bioinformatics projects phases from initiation to closure. Monitor day to day progress of NGS based genetics projects and work in collaboration with managers, lead scientists of all sectors of department to ensure proper execution of all deliverables are on target in quality and timely manner. Offer relevant scientific information regarding Genome/transcriptome sequencing and how our services are suitable for client’s research for project design. Act as a consultant for customers in making informed decisions on specific kits to utilize, sequencing depth, what customized steps to add into protocols, and wet lab protocol strategies to reach client goals. Troubleshoot project issues involving low input, degraded sample materials, sample collection, storage strategies, QC values, data output and bioinformatics analysis. Maintain in depth scientific knowledge of NGS, bioinformatics and project workflows to train the team to strategize to reach client goals. Assess project parameters to ensure they are within customer requirement and laboratory capabilities. Train and evaluate PM team on project design, assessment, and deliveries to ensure successful delivery or services. Update Accounting Manager on billing/payment matters for completed projects or ongoing projects. Continue to improve standard workflows on Airtable, Multivew, Microsoft office tools (Excel, Onenote, Outlook) for project management. Coordinate with lab scientists to develop new genomic workflows and improve current workflows. Supervise 2 Associate Scientists. Must have a Ph.D. degree in Life Sciences, Biological Sciences or a related field with 1 year of laboratory experience or a Master’s degree with 4 years of experience. Must have experience in CLIA/CAP environment and Next Generation Sequencing platforms. Must have demonstrated knowledge or experience in molecular biology techniques including PCR, molecular cloning, gel electrophoresis, blotting (southern/northern/eastern/western), CRISPR, microarrays and Next Generation sequencing analysis.
