Scientist I (South Plainfield, NJ) Work in cutting-edge technologies and techniques of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) to appeal to researchers at the forefront of discovery whether seeking to improve crop yield across varied growing conditions or begin exploring the mutations that lead to disease. Independently perform laboratory bench-work on projects as well as assign and monitor daily work to RNA group members to ensure successful product for all workflows. Design, execute, analyze, document, communicate and troubleshoot for NGS based genetics projects on different workflows including RNAseq, Whole Genomic Sequencing and Whole Exome Sequencing. Assist in troubleshooting and addressing unforeseen issues in order to meet customer service expectations for genetic projects. Take lead with fellow scientists in troubleshooting workflows. Provide technical guidance and training to team members and other interacting departments. Train new associate scientists on laboratory workflows including documentation, bench-work and maintenance. Generate reports summarizing experimental results and communicate them to project teams. Maintain detailed laboratory notes on experiments during project progress, procedures and deviations from standard protocols. Follow SOPs while complying with all CLIA/CAP regulations to ensure safe lab environment. Monitor and address concerns and make adjustments in policies and procedures if required. Create, update and implement SOPs and training manual as needed. Collaborate within the group as well as cross departments. Develop and implement initiatives directed towards optimized productivity including cost reduction strategy, effective resource allocation and automation improvements. Must have a Master’s degree in Biological Sciences with 2 years of laboratory experience. Must have experience in CLIA/CAP environment and Next Generation Sequencing platforms. Must have demonstrated knowledge or experience in molecular biology principles and technologies including PCR, molecular cloning, and basic sequence analysis. M-F 9-5 Send resume to HR Dept.
